Bits and Pieces

I don't really know much at all but I am in the mood to blog. Then again, when has not knowing much stopped me from saying something? HA!

This is one of the things that I worked on this past weekend. I took a wooden frame that I bought at a garage sale last summer for $1. Mat and all! I wish that I had remembered to take a before picture. Anyway, I painted the frame green, spread some crackle on and then painted cream over the top of all of that. I am in love with crackle. Then I antiqued it a bit. The inside of the mat was yellow but I painted it green. I put some sweet paper that I have had for FOREVER! Remember this paper flutterby??? Then, on the inside of the frame, I put a little green moss in the shape of a nest before putting it all back together.

On the outside of the glass, I built up a nest with more moss and added an egg to give it depth. I like working in mixed media. You should be able to click on the picture to make it larger and see more detail.

This cat here? This is Diesel. He is growing FAST! He is as tall as Molly and already out weighs her. He loves it when I am in my studio. He comes right in and plops himself on the table and will stay there as long as I am in the room. I like to think that he loves being in there with me. I reject the theory that he loves laying under the lamp basking in all of its warm glory. Nah...it's cause he loves me!
See this yummy fabric???? I am starting in a quilt along that Randi over at I Have To Say is doing over on her blog. There is still time to get in if you want! It will take 6 weeks to do. I am excited because I have never done anything like this! I mean where the squares all match up right and everything. This is week one and we are buying and preparing our fabrics. I bought mine and aren't they pretty! I did not trust myself enough to pick out my fabric for a project this large so Randi did it for me! Is she great or what? All the fabric came from her Etsy store Freshsqeezedfabrics. You need to go and check her out! Like now!!

I always love sharing with you what I am working on. I am not really looking for oooohhhsss and aaahhhhssss but I must admit, I love showing off. That being said, do you want to see more of what I am working on? Would you like to see a tutorial of something and, if so, what would you like to see?

wishes that she had learned to quilt from her grandmother
