"Here I Am." she muttered weakly

I know I have been absent. Both in reading and writing. I am so very sorry. I am sure you all think I am working my fingers to the bone on the house. And, in part, that is true. I do not know what I would have done without the help of my mom, dad, babygator and bebo.

Especially now that I have taken to sleeping with corn.

For about a week now, in the midst of all of the reconstruction, I have been fighting a toothache. I went to the dentist on Monday. The tooth is cracked. Weird thing is, I must have cracked it years ago and it is just now giving me problems. One of the roots has abscessed. Yeah....much fun over here. I am on antibiotics and some pain meds. The pain meds work not so much. Well.....I don't really know that. I am only allowed to take them at night. I take one and wait awhile and then thing....Dang! This is not worzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I have 2 choices...pull the tooth ($$) or have a root canal ($$$$$$$$). I just want the pain to stop.

I did not need this just right now.

I think that birthing a baby is much easier that this.

A package of frozen corn works wonderfully to lay on your face. It curves nicely to gently overlap your jaw where it is really hurting. Bebo laughs at me each and every time he sees me with the corn out.

I do have one suggestion to make though. Buy the cheapo corn in the regular package. The first night I used the corn, I used one that was a steamer package. You will DREAM that you are in a corn field because of all of the corn smells.

Trust me on this one.

I will not be around for the next week or two. I took before pics of all of the rooms of the house. I will be posting before and afters before too long.

...who will keep orajel and clove oil in the medicine chest from now on...

  3. I had one abscess before I ever knew there was a problem with it... it went bad from the inside out and there was no pain at all. And then it broke. And what broke it you might wonder? I was eating CORN. NO KIDDING, lol!

  4. And I meant to add that while pulling it is cheaper it's not always the best thing to do. I can cause problems with your other teeth around it unless you get a spacer, and even then it can cause problems with the tooth ABOVE or below, depending on where it is... because it will no longer have pressure being put against it while you are chewing, and according to one of my dentists, that can be a bad thing too.

  6. I'm so sorry to hear about the pain you are feeling! Having just recently recovered from a staph infection in my face, I can relate!

My doctor had me on a "regimen" of Advil alternating with Tylenol. As the Advil was wearing off, the Tylenol would be starting to kick in.

You might want to give your doctor a call and find out how to do this. Of course, the really important thing is not to take more Tylenol than you're allowed (especially in relation to the other painkiller you're taking at night) because it is a threat to your liver. So don't try it without talking to your doc first.

I just hate to think of you in pain!

If you do pull it, be very very careful not to get dry socket. That is worse than child birth. Peas work just as well as corn too!!
    Good Luck. Feel better soon!

Can't wait to see the pictures.

Do NOT pull that tooth! Flutterby speaks wisdom that is true!!

To help with pain killing, get a regular teabag (like Lipton), wet it with warm water (as warm as you can stand) and place the wet bag over the painful tooth. Yes, it's going to add some stains. But those can be dealt with later.

    Can't wait for pictures......

Gotta go now. There's this sewing project I need to work on. :)

  17. pull tooth......I went through same thing, had to done to the tune of a zillion bucks and when it's cracked, there's no guarantee it won't recur.
So then choice is to re-root or pull.
Pull now (unless it is front tooth of course and you would have to wear frozen veggie bag permanently....and save yourself the trouble. I am sorry you're in pain. Ask for percocet...take some Motrin too that will help. I will send healing vibes your way in the form of a nice syringe of novacaine. Now that's relief. Much as I don't enjoy dental things, it's the best feeling in the world when your suffering like that.

  18. Yuck. Mouth pain and dentists are in my bottom 3.

Don't pull the tooth if you can get away with it. You will be better in the long run.

    Feel Better!
