Finding Kind - Documentary Trailer
I watched this today and it kind of made me sad. Take a minute and watch it. Isn't it sad that we still treat one another so cruelly? Isn't it even sadder that we don't grow out of it? Honestly, females are some of the meanest people that I know. We have got to change that.
All we have to do is change our little spot. Just that one little spot you are standing in. If you do that....and you do that...and you do that...and I do that....
Then we are going to change the world.
June Random Acts of Kindness totaled 48. 48 buttons for the jar!
Since July ends on a Saturday, we will also include Friday in our acts.
So put your thinking caps on....Random Acts of Kindness is set for July 30th and 31st.
thinks you (points at you) are her favorite...ssshhhh don't tell....
The pity I find is that we are taught from a young age that a girl or woman's value relies on the opinions of others, not their own sense of self worth, which can make us instant "victims" even in childhood.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I am speaking from my perspective (being over 50) but this seems to agree that youngsters still suffer from the same problems. Can't we just be nice, for no reason? Women and girls are strong - hang together! Thanks for sharing!
Very good points Winny! Why CAN'T we just be nice? Why can't we just not say anything if there is nothing nice to say?
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting this. A point that was made in the video that impacted me was, "never assume to know something about someone..." how true that statement is. You have been nothing short of an amazing friend to me and reached out to me in kindness, not when I needed it, but just because and I am eternally grateful for your sincere friendship based on something simple...just being kind.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much M. That means a lot to me. I have had really good women be kind to me in my past. That did not have to be but they chose to. I had good examples.
ReplyDeleteMindy, this video almost made me cry. Girls (and women) can certainly be "bi-atches." SIGH. I think one reason is that ugly monster called jeolousy!
ReplyDeleteHey...check out my post on my guest room...You know you want to come & stay in it!
xo, Cheryl
Mindy, this video made me tear up. Other than that I'm at a loss for words.
ReplyDeleteIt's soooo true. Women are the most deceptive of all creatures. They are great at putting up a front (for either good or bad reasons).
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately for those who have tried to show kindness to others just to have it spit upon by the truly evil individuals, well, they can't just as easily show that kindness again.
Lessons are learned, but often times the good Christian kindness that we want to practice can become damaged.
I TOTALLY disagree Anon.
ReplyDeleteI do not think REAL Christian kindness ever gets damaged. I also do not think actual Christians label other people as *truly evil individuals*.
I think a lot of people proclaim loudly to be Christian but they show everyone time and time again that they are not by their actions.
I don't think it is as much *lessons are learned* as it is *excuses are made*
Hey Cheryl I am going to look now!!
ReplyDelete(((Gerry))) love you girl.
ReplyDeleteI agree, however, damaged and broken are two different things. How can we be human and not have hurt feelings or feel pain.
ReplyDeleteI also feel that you have to understand that evil exists to know goodness. One of those dark to know the light situations.
I think we can feel both things....but if you want to involve Christ then you push past that. How disappointed he must be when his followers point and label.
ReplyDeleteTrust me, I know evil exists. Knowing it exists does not mean we give up because we got bit. It also still does not give us an excuse to be bad in the name of Jesus.
And you and I both know who you are Anon. If you really believe your words then sign your name to them.
The post was about being kind and how women tend to not be kind. You can be part of the solution or part of the problem....not both. If you want to attach Christianity to it, then you must be part of the solution or you are not what you proclaim to be.
Let me clarify something:
ReplyDeleteWhen I say YOU I am not pointing a finger at you Anon.
I am using the word in general. It applies to everyone.
Very well said! I am proud of you!!
ReplyDeleteThat is another part of the solution...to stand up for what you believe in. Too many times we are bullied down into a corner and it is easier to just walk away. It is like the book, "If everyone did", if everyone is always mean all of the time, then we would live in a horrible place. The small nice things that we do for people mean more than we will ever know. A little kindness goes a long way and is very much appreciated by ALL recipients. (Kind of makes yourself feel good too!) It would be great if everyone was happy and kind all of the time, but the reality is that we all have bad days. That doesn't give us the excuse or right to take them out on other people. My motto is to "Choose your attitude." It takes little or no effort to be nice and kind, but it takes a lot of planning to be deceitful and mean.
Choose your happy face and be NICE!
Lots of food for thought here. I have a son, and I watch him and his friends cut each other down - in good fun - but still cutting down rather than building up. I'm not sure if the girl phenomenon is really the not being kind, or how we react to it, or how we admit to how we react to it. Pretty sure my son wouldn't let on that his feelings had been hurt by his friends' comments.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, the comment that we don't know anyone else's story is so true and will be part of my sermon this Sunday. I had already written that part when I saw this, but found it reaffirming. I do know that most tearing down of others comes from one's own pain and need to build oneself up.
Oh Sheri ~applaudes~ LOVE what you said
ReplyDeleteOh mid I love the sentence *I do know that most tearing down of others comes from one's own pain and need to build oneself up.*
ReplyDeleteok, now i am tearing up!
ReplyDeletewhat a great reminder to add some kindness to someone's day. i actually have BE KIND written on the main page of my phone. it is something that i try to practice regularly, but i need need need reminders simply because it is so easy to get caught up in life and forget to slow down for someone else.
Mindy, I love you lots but I'm not gonna watch that video...just don't have any extra emotional forebearance right now. :)
ReplyDeleteBut I will say I'm so happy that RAK goes today and tomorrow! yay!
